Departmental Activities
The
department has a regular cultural centre called ‘Hobgoblin Club’ that
The Department has given some very good stage programmes. Amongst the dramas
played, some important ones are the Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Othelo and King
Lear by Shakespeare; Pygmalion and Arms and the Man by Bernard Shaw; The life of
Galileo by Bertolt Brecht, Chandalika by Tagore and the Miser by Moliere. The School for Scandal by Sheridan.
Generally speaking acting, stage setting, direction and costumes have been
widely and invariably appreciated by all.
The
Department regularly organizes talks by eminent scholars in the field. Few
amongst those who have been invited are Ms. Diana Lubeslka from Plymonth
England, Prof. S. K. Verma from CIEFL Hyderabad, Prof. R. P. Bhatnagar, Prof. K.
L. Sharma, Dr. D. C. Agarwal, Sri A. L. Shah from Jaipur and Prof. R. C. Sharma
from Delhi University.
In 2002 an
association called BANASTHALI DEUTSCHER MAEDCHEN VERBAND was formed so that
different activities can be organized and writers, experts and academicians are
invited in the same. Teachers from Goethe Institute, Munich under Exchange
Programme also taken classes in the department so as to make the classes more
effective and to impart first hand information to students. Recently the
Department has signed an MOU with a Turkish University for Cultural Exchange of
students.
